Baked white fish with potatoes and carrots

A simple, light, and comforting meal to restore balance

This week, we bring you a recipe for those phases of greater abdominal discomfort, when the body craves simple, well-made meals with familiar flavors.

This baked fish recipe with potatoes and carrots was designed exactly for those days.

It is a FODMAP-friendly option, made with easy-to-digest ingredients and gentle cooking, ideal when you are looking to reduce intestinal fermentation without resorting to extreme restrictions.

A simple and comforting home-cooked dish, which makes sense after completing the Debloat program, but also at any time when the body asks for lightness without sacrificing flavor!

Why does this recipe make sense after a debloat?

Without using technical language, this is a recipe that respects moments of greater digestive sensitivity:

  • white fish is light and easy to digest
  • potatoes and carrots are simple and well-tolerated foods
  • the oven allows for gentle cooking without excess fat
  • there is no onion, garlic, or fermentable ingredients

Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 2 white fish fillets (hake, sole, or sea bass)
  • 2 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced into rounds
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • juice of ½ a lemon
  • 1 bay leaf
  • sea salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • fresh herbs to taste (parsley or thyme)

Preparation instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Lightly boil the potatoes and carrots in salted water for about 5 minutes. Drain well.
  3. Arrange the vegetables in a baking dish, drizzle with a little olive oil, and toss to combine.
  4. Place the fish fillets on top of the vegetables. Season with salt, pepper, the bay leaf, lemon juice, and the remaining olive oil.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the fish is tender and the vegetables are golden.
  6. Finish with fresh herbs before serving.

This dish reminds us that taking care of the body also involves returning to the simple things. Ingredients we usually have in our fridge and pantry, mild flavors, and a meal that comforts without weighing you down.
